Not knowing what time they were coming until the night before was very stressful, although I found that all the companies do that. Other than that, the actual movers were terrific. I was surprised to see the same movers in Texas when they dropped my stuff off and it was comforting.

We moved from the Boulder area to Southern California and I had a good experience with American Van Lines. The moving day was hectic because I was still a little bit behind. I've been working at trying to get done a week before but I made it till that day. The crew helped with a lot of things and got things packed up for me, and got it all out into the truck. They had to come back the next day to finish loading because they needed to make room in there first. But it worked out well. The crew went above and beyond both in loading and unloading. The driver was behind because of a blowout but he made up for it on his own time. He got out here and almost beat me out to California. The quote was accurate. I'm sure we came in a little bit more because I remember 30 years ago when I moved from Southern California to Colorado, we were the largest move that the company had ever done. So I wasn't expecting us to lose much junk between then and now.

My experience with American Van Lines was excellent. They were easy to deal with from the very first cold call, from the number on the website to the very end when Greg, the driver, helped unload the stuff here in New Mexico. From A to Z. Very amazing, fast and friendly. When we had to work out some details early on about what exactly was gonna be moved, and we had to make up our minds as we went along, I made three different phone calls. They were never impatient and were always helpful. I had phone numbers for two or three different people in different parts of the company. The driver also called when he was a little bit away from the pick-up. I had his number and we could communicate. And communication was easy. Everything was very satisfactory.
