Champion Windows legitimacy and licensing

Yes. Champion was founded in Cincinnati in 1953 as a maker of aluminum storm windows, moved into vinyl replacement windows in 1975, and builds its windows at its headquarters campus at 12121 Champion Way in Cincinnati. In 2021 it became part of Great Day Improvements, a home improvement group whose brands include Patio Enclosures, Universal Windows Direct and Apex Energy Solutions. Its 2026 promotions name Champion Opco LLC as the company and list contractor license numbers CGC1537616 and CCC1336245.

Being legitimate is not the same as being trouble free. The corporate BBB profile, which covers about 55 company-owned showrooms, rates Champion C+ and is not accredited, with 640 complaints in the past three years. An earlier version of this page said the BBB did not rate Champion; that is no longer the case. EPA records also show two 2019 Toxic Substances Control Act penalty cases against Champion entities, including Champion Window Company of Minneapolis, both closed after payment.

Champion windows cost

Champion does not publish prices. Its pricing page shows only dollar-sign ratings by style and says an accurate price requires an in-home estimate, which includes installation. Modernize, a contractor lead site, estimated in September 2026 that Champion windows run $425 to $2,100 each installed, with bay and bow windows at the top of the range. Treat any outside figure as a rough guide.

Champion’s promotions are discounts off a list price you never see. In October 2026 the window offer was buy 2, get 2 free with a four-window minimum, which Champion says equals 40% off, plus up to 10% more, capped at $2,000, through the Yes! Program. That extra discount only applies if you accept the quoted price at the end of your first appointment. Compare the final contract price, not the discount, against other quotes.

Financing runs through Upgrade, with loans made by Cross River Bank. The pay-nothing-for-a-year plan charges a 29.49% APR that accrues during the promotion and is waived only if you pay in full before it ends.

Champion Windows warranty

Champion’s Limited Lifetime Warranty covers parts, labor, materials, broken glass, seal failure, screen repair and waste removal on Comfort 365 windows, and Champion says it will fix a broken window whatever the cause. The fine print on its promotions says the warranty applies as long as the original purchaser owns the home. An earlier version of this page said the warranty transfers once to the next owner; Champion’s current site does not say that, so ask for the full warranty document before you sign and do not count on it adding resale value.

How buying from Champion works

You book a free in-home quote. A design consultant measures your openings, walks through styles, glass and colors, and gives a price, along with the same-day Yes! Program discount. After you sign, Champion builds the windows to order in Ohio and schedules its own installation crew, which it says finishes most window jobs in a single day, removes the old windows and hauls away debris.

Champion also sells sunrooms, siding, entry doors and roofing, and Great Day Improvements offers 10% off later projects with any of its brands after you complete one.

Champion Windows complaints and what customers report

On Trustpilot, 63% of 4,025 reviews are five star and 14% are one star. Positive reviews describe knowledgeable consultants, tidy and punctual install crews and good-looking windows. Negative reviews and BBB complaints describe trouble reaching anyone after the sale, slow or refused warranty repairs, wrong measurements and installation errors, and long gaps between signing and installation.

Complaint volume matters more than any single story. The BBB has logged 640 complaints in three years against the corporate profile, which is why the rating is C+. Before you sign, ask the local showroom for its installation timeline in writing and who handles service in your area.

Your right to cancel an in-home sale

Because Champion sells in your home, the FTC Cooling-Off Rule generally gives you until midnight of the third business day after the sale to cancel a purchase of $25 or more made at your home. The seller must give you a cancellation form. Mail it, or your own signed letter, by certified mail postmarked before the deadline. The seller then has 10 days to refund your money. Signing the same day to get the Yes! Program discount does not remove this right.

Check that the local office holds any contractor license your state or city requires, and that the contract lists the exact window models, glass package, total price, payment schedule and installation date.

Who should skip Champion

Look elsewhere if you want a quick quote with a posted price, if you plan to sell within a few years and want a transferable warranty, or if you want wood, fiberglass or composite frames. Local installers of national brands, or a big-box store installation program, can be cheaper for a few standard windows.
