Review guidelines
Last updated October 14, 2026
Our moderators read every review before it publishes, to check it against these guidelines. Not every review is published. The most helpful reviews, positive or negative, are accurate, include details from your own experience with the company, and say what happened from start to finish.
Writing your review
- Profanity, threats or personal insults will invalidate your submission and it will be discarded.
- Do not write in all caps.
- Never share contact or financial information for yourself or anyone else.
- Include enough detail to help other readers, usually more than 100 words. The minimum is 50 characters.
- Do not include email addresses, phone numbers or links.
- Write something new. Do not submit a review you have already posted on another site, and do not review the same experience with the same company twice.
- Review the company you dealt with. Reviews about a different company are not published.
Who can write a review
- Anyone who has used the company's product or service, or dealt with the company directly.
- You confirm an email address before the review can publish. We never show it, and companies never receive it.
- Employees, their relatives, competitors and anyone paid or rewarded for the review may not post. Companies may not offer anything in exchange for a review, and may not ask only happy customers.
- One review per company per person in any 12 months. The review is published under your first name.
What the labels mean
- Verified reviewer: the reviewer confirmed an email address and our moderators approved the review.
- Response from the company: a public reply written by the company and read by our moderators before it appears.
What happens after you submit
- You confirm your email with a 6 digit code. Reviews without a confirmed email are deleted after 72 hours.
- Our moderators read the review, usually within 3 business days, and check it for the problems listed below.
- Once published, your review counts toward the company's reader rating, and the company can post one public response under it.
Why a review is not published
- Profanity, threats or personal insults
- Personal information about anyone, including staff surnames
- A duplicate of a review already posted here or on another site
- Not a firsthand experience
- About a different company
- Written in all caps
- Under the 50 character minimum
- Suspected fake, paid or incentivized
- Written by an employee, relative or competitor
- Off topic
We never reject a review for its rating or its opinion of the company.
What companies can and cannot do
- A company can post one public response per review, labelled "Response from" with the company name. Responses are read by our moderators before they appear.
- A company never receives your email address. It sees only your first name, your rating and what you wrote.
- If a company pressures you to change or remove a review, or offers you anything to do so, report it to [email protected].
- A company can never edit, hide, reorder or remove a review, and paying BestGuide never changes a reader rating or which reviews publish.
How the reader rating is calculated
A company's reader rating is the average of the ratings in its published reader reviews. It is separate from the BestGuide Score set by our editors.
- Every reviewer confirms an email address before a review can publish.
- Our moderators read every review before it publishes.
- Companies can respond publicly but can never edit, hide or remove a review.
- Paying BestGuide never changes the reader rating or which reviews publish.
Your review and your rights
- You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting, you give BestGuide a non-exclusive licence to publish the review with your first name, here and in our own channels. We do not pay for reviews and never will.
- You can ask us to delete your review at any time by emailing [email protected].
- BestGuide may refuse or remove a review that breaks these guidelines or the law.
- Reviews are the reviewer's own statements, not BestGuide's. See the terms of use and the privacy policy.
