EverBank suits savers who want a top-tier rate plus CDs and checking at the same bank, as long as you keep an eye on your rate after you open. It is a real, FDIC-insured national bank (formerly TIAA Bank), and its Performance Savings account is a strong high-yield option: 4.20% APY on every dollar for new accounts as of October 9, 2026, no monthly fee and $0 to open. The catch is in the fine print: EverBank says the advertised rate is for new accounts only and may not apply to existing ones, so a rate you open with is not locked in.
- Savings APY
- 4.20% APY on all balances for new Performance Savings accounts, as of October 9, 2026; variable, and EverBank says it may not apply to existing accounts2
- Fees and minimums
- $0 to open, $0 monthly fee, no minimum balance, no NSF fee; $25 stop payment and $25 domestic outgoing wire3
- How you bank
- Savings is opened and run online and by phone; mobile check deposits up to $50,000 a day1
- CDs
- $1,000 minimum; 3.40% to 4.35% APY depending on term (24-month at 4.35%, 13-month at 4.10%) as of October 9, 20262
- FDIC
- EverBank, National Association, FDIC certificate 34775, Jacksonville, Florida; about $46.7 billion in assets as of June 30, 20265
- BBB
- A+ rating, not accredited, 40 complaints in the last 3 years; lists TIAA Bank as an alternate name6
- CFPB complaints
- 229 complaints from October 12, 2023 to October 12, 2026, 166 about checking or savings; top issues: managing (101), closing (34) and opening (25) an account12
- Transfer limits
- By default, up to $10,000 a day and $30,000 a month in external transfers out; you can ask for a higher limit at 1.888.882.38379
Pros
- 4.20% APY on all balances for new accounts, about 11 times the 0.37% national average EverBank cites
- No monthly fee, no minimum balance and $0 to open
- No NSF fees on the savings account
- Full bank under one roof: CDs, checking and money market, with financial centers in Florida, California and New York
- FDIC insured up to $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category
Cons
- The advertised APY is for new accounts only; existing account holders may earn a different rate
- ATM fee reimbursements belong to Performance Checking, not the savings account
- Outgoing domestic wires cost $25
- Performance Money Market can only be opened at a financial center
- Some CFPB complaints describe trouble managing or closing accounts
Best for: Savers who want a high rate on every dollar with no fees and like keeping savings, CDs and checking at one FDIC-insured bank.
Skip it if: You want a rate you never have to check, since EverBank says the advertised APY is for new accounts and may not match what existing accounts earn.

EverBank, step by step

Move money out
External transfers out are capped at $10,000 a day and $30,000 a month by default. Call 1.888.882.3837 before a large move to request a higher limit, or send a $25 domestic wire.
EverBank Performance Savings rate and fees
As of October 9, 2026, EverBank lists 4.20% APY on all balances for new Performance Savings accounts. The rate is variable and can change without notice. EverBank’s rate table adds a line worth reading: the APY displayed is for new accounts only and may not be applicable for existing accounts. In practice that means the rate you see when you open is not guaranteed to follow your account, so check the APY on your statement every few months.
The account itself is cheap to hold. EverBank’s summary of terms lists:
- $0 to open and no minimum balance
- $0 monthly fee
- $0 NSF fee, $0 mobile deposit fee, $0 incoming wires
- $25 to stop a payment and $25 for a domestic outgoing wire ($35 to $65 for international wires)
Interest compounds daily. You open and manage the account online or by phone, and you can deposit checks in the app up to $50,000 a day.
One correction to older reviews: ATM fee reimbursements (unlimited with a $5,000 balance, otherwise up to $15 a month) are a feature of EverBank’s Performance Checking account, which takes $100 to open. They are not part of the savings account.
EverBank legitimacy and licensing
Yes. EverBank, National Association is an active FDIC-insured bank (certificate 34775) based in Jacksonville, Florida, with about $46.7 billion in assets as of June 30, 2026, according to FDIC BankFind. Deposits are insured up to $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category. If you hold more than that, split it across ownership categories or banks, or ask EverBank about its CDARS program.
The bank used to operate as TIAA Bank, and the BBB still lists that as an alternate name. EverBank holds an A+ BBB rating but is not accredited, with 40 complaints in the last three years. Before you open an account, confirm you are on everbank.com; EverBank says it will never call, text or email you asking for login credentials or a one-time passcode.
Getting money in and out: transfer limits
The most common frustration in EverBank reviews is moving money out, and the bank’s own support page explains why. By default you can send up to $10,000 a day and $30,000 a month in total external transfers from your EverBank accounts. Transaction counts are capped too. EverBank says the limits help protect against fraud, and you can request a higher limit by calling 1.888.882.3837; requests are reviewed case by case.
If you plan to park a large sum, for example a home sale or an inheritance, ask for a higher limit when you open the account or plan to use a domestic wire ($25). Deposits are easier: mobile check deposits go up to $50,000 a day, and incoming wires are free.
EverBank CDs and checking
If you want to lock a rate instead of riding a variable APY, EverBank’s CDs start at $1,000. As of October 9, 2026 the best terms were the 24-month CD at 4.35% APY and the 13-month CD at 4.10%; most other terms paid 3.40% to 3.60%. The 7, 13 and 25 month specials renew into standard 6, 12 and 24 month CDs at maturity, so set a reminder before they roll over. Early withdrawal penalties apply.
Performance Checking takes $100 to open and paid 0.25% APY. It carries the ATM fee reimbursements that some older reviews credit to the savings account. The Performance Money Market account can be opened only at a financial center in Florida, California or New York.
What customers say about EverBank
Recurring themes across the review sites and complaint records listed above, not individual quotes.

- The mobile app, rated 4.8 out of 5 on the App Store
Common complaints

- Cumbersome login and verification steps, including beneficiary setup
Complaints and what customers report
The CFPB’s public complaint database shows 230 complaints about EverBank from October 11, 2023 to October 10, 2026. Of those, 167 concern checking or savings accounts and 35 concern mortgages. The most common issues are managing an account (102), closing an account (34) and opening an account (25). EverBank closed nearly all of them with an explanation.
Complaints in the CFPB database are not verified and are small next to a $37.7 billion deposit base, but they tell you where friction shows up: holds, account reviews and getting money out. If you plan to move a large balance, start with a small test transfer, keep your funding account linked, and save copies of any messages with the bank.
Who should pick a different savings account
EverBank’s rate is among the higher ones we checked in October 2026, but it is not the right fit for everyone. Consider another bank if:
- You need to move more than $10,000 a day or $30,000 a month out on short notice and do not want to call for a higher limit.
- You want branch service and do not live near EverBank’s Florida, California or New York financial centers.
- You do not want to monitor your rate. EverBank says its advertised APY is for new accounts, so existing accounts can drift lower.
- You want savings and investing in one place, where a brokerage-linked bank account may be simpler.
Alternatives to EverBank
- E*TRADE Premium Savings Slightly higher for the first six months and instant transfers to a brokerage account, if you also invest. Read review
- American Express High Yield Savings A lower rate, but a simple savings-only account from a large card issuer if you already bank with Amex. Read review
- Treasury bills through TreasuryDirect A public option with no bank in the middle; interest on Treasury bills is exempt from state and local income tax, which helps in high-tax states.
