Our verdict

Noom suits people who want daily lessons, food logging and coaching to change habits, with or without weight loss medication, and it's a straightforward route for Medicare Part D members to use the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge at $50 a fill. It is a legitimate company, in business since 2008, BBB accredited with an A+ and rated 4.7 on the App Store from more than 870,000 ratings. Watch two things: it also sells compounded GLP-1 bundles, which the FDA doesn't approve or review, and its billing draws heavy complaints (606 to BBB in 3 years, plus a $62 million 2022 auto-renewal settlement). Note your renewal date and refund window, and talk to your own doctor before starting any GLP-1.

Noom legitimacy and licensing

Yes. Noom, Inc. has operated since 2008, is BBB accredited with an A+, and its app holds 4.7 out of 5 from about 873,000 App Store ratings. Its Noom Med service connects you with licensed clinicians online who prescribe medication only when they judge it appropriate.

Its billing history is the main concern. In 2022 Noom agreed to a $62 million settlement, $56 million in cash and $6 million in credits, of a class action alleging its auto-renewing subscriptions were hard to cancel; it denied wrongdoing and agreed to change certain business practices. BBB still lists 606 complaints in the last 3 years, many about charges and refunds.

Noom cost

Noom Weight, the app program, is an auto-renewing subscription; the App Store lists program purchases from $44.99 to $199.99, and the web price appears during sign-up. Noom Med costs depend on the route. For brand-name drugs such as Wegovy or Zepbound, Noom lists a start from $39 plus whatever you pay for the medication through insurance or cash.

For Medicare Part D members who qualify for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, Noom lists $39 for the first evaluation, $129 a month for the Noom Med plan billed every 12 weeks, and $50 per fill for the medication. Compounded GLP-1Rx costs $149 to start, then $349 a month, and the microdose version $79, then $199 a month, both billed every 12 weeks plus tax.

Compounded GLP-1s at Noom: what to know

Noom says that if a clinician feels compounded medication is appropriate, it isn’t approved by the FDA or reviewed for quality, safety or efficacy. The FDA has warned about dosing errors and adverse events with compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, and in 2026 it warned 30 telehealth companies about how they marketed compounded GLP-1s. We found no FDA warning letter addressed to Noom.

If you can get a brand-name drug covered, or through the Medicare Bridge, that’s the option with FDA review behind it. Ask your clinician which product you’re getting, who compounds it, and why. Talk to your own doctor about whether a GLP-1 is right for you.

How Does Noom Work?

Noom’s process begins with an online quiz that takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The assessment collects information about goals, lifestyle, eating habits, and medical history to create a personalized weight loss plan. Based on responses, Noom estimates a timeline for reaching the goal weight and sets a daily calorie budget.

The core Noom Weight Loss program revolves around daily app-based lessons of 5 to 15 minutes each. Lessons focus on CBT principles to reframe thinking about food, stress, and exercise. Users log meals using a database categorized into a green, yellow, and red system based on caloric density (not nutritional value), encouraging more whole foods without making any food group off-limits.

For users interested in medical weight loss, Noom Med offers a separate track. After a video consultation with a licensed clinician, eligible individuals can receive prescriptions for GLP-1 medications including compounded semaglutide and brand-name medications like Wegovy and Zepbound. The Noom Med platform combines coaching, app access, and medication into bundled monthly pricing (detailed in the Cost section below).

Beyond core coaching, Noom includes Welli (AI-powered nutrition planning), Muscle Defense (fitness tools), and an active community of users (commonly referred to as “Noomers”). All features are included with every plan at no extra cost per the platform’s 2026 disclosure.

Noom complaints and how to avoid problems

Complaints on BBB and Trustpilot focus on unexpected renewal charges, refund denials, slow support, shipping problems and insurance paperwork.

  • Write down your renewal date; Noom sends billing reminder emails, but don’t rely on them.
  • Noom Weight refunds are only possible within 14 days of your first charge, and renewals aren’t refundable.
  • On Noom Med, refunds stop once a prescription is written, so decide before your visit.
  • Deleting the app doesn’t cancel your subscription.

How to cancel Noom

If you paid through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there. Your access runs to the end of the billing period. On Noom Med you can switch to Noom Weight instead of canceling. Who should skip Noom

If you want only FDA-approved medication from a company that doesn’t sell compounded versions, Ro or WeightWatchers Med+ fit better. If cost is the issue, your own doctor can prescribe through your insurance, and free apps handle food logging. If you have prediabetes, the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program is a proven, often free lifestyle option.

Alternatives to Noom

  • Your own doctor plus a free tracking app Your primary care doctor can prescribe and bill insurance, and free calorie trackers cover food logging without a subscription.
  • CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program A year-long lifestyle program, often free or covered, if you have prediabetes; Medicare covers it for eligible members.
  • WeightWatchers Better if you want medication limited to FDA-approved drugs plus a points-based food program. Read review
  • Ro Better if you want brand-name GLP-1s only, at published cash prices. Read review
