TELUS LivingWell Companion is a legitimate medical alert service from one of Canada's largest telecom companies, monitored around the clock by operators based in Canada. The name now covers only the in-home system: the mobile Companion Go has been replaced by the TELUS Health Medical Alert Pendant, which adds fall detection, GPS location and a caregiver app. The catch is price. Regular rates are $60 a month for Home and $80 for the Pendant, and you only get the lower advertised prices by signing a 1-year term, which carries a $15 a month early cancellation fee outside Quebec.

Holding the Pendant button for three seconds, or a detected fall, starts a call. An automated assistant asks if you need help, then passes you to a live operator who calls your contacts or 911.
Test weekly
TELUS recommends testing the device every week by pressing the button and telling the operator it is a test.
Cancel and return
Call customer support to cancel, pay any early termination fee if you are on a term, and return the equipment.
TELUS LivingWell Companion legitimacy and licensing
Yes. LivingWell Companion is sold by TELUS Health, the health division of the Canadian telecom company TELUS, and TELUS says its monitoring stations and trained operators are located in Canada. It is a real, professionally monitored medical alert service, not a reseller.
What has changed is the lineup. TELUS now sells the TELUS Health Medical Alert Pendant as its mobile device, and its site lists the older LivingWell Companion Go under user guides for older devices. The only product still sold under the LivingWell Companion name is LivingWell Companion Home. The Apple Watch monitoring option TELUS used to promote is not listed on its current product pages.
TELUS LivingWell Companion cost
TELUS’s offer terms list regular prices of $60 a month for LivingWell Companion Home and $80 a month for the Medical Alert Pendant, before tax. Two discounts bring that down: $15 a month off for the first 12 months if you sign a 1-year term, and another $10 a month off if you already have TELUS Home, Mobility or Koodo service and use code THANKYOU10. That is how TELUS gets to its headline prices of $35 for Home and $55 for the Pendant.

How the Home system and Pendant work
LivingWell Companion Home is a water-resistant button worn on a lanyard or wristband that talks to a base station in your home, with a range of about 600 feet. The button’s battery is built in, lasts 3 to 5 years and flashes red when it needs replacing. An operator speaks to you through the base station’s speaker.
The TELUS Health Medical Alert Pendant is a mobile device you wear on a lanyard or belt clip. It works anywhere in Canada with cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, charges in a cradle and lasts up to 6 days per charge. Press and hold the button for three seconds, or let fall detection trigger, and an automated assistant called AVA asks if you need help. If you ask for help or do not answer, a live operator takes over and calls your contacts or emergency services. If a second alert comes within 30 minutes, the call skips AVA and goes straight to an operator.

Fall detection: what to expect
Fall detection comes with the Pendant. TELUS says it works best when the pendant hangs on the lanyard on your chest over clothing, and that it may not detect every fall. If you fall and can press the button, do not wait for the device to notice. Accidental alerts can be cancelled by holding the button or telling the operator you are fine.
No fall detection device replaces medical advice. If falls are becoming frequent, talk to a doctor or physiotherapist about the cause and about home safety changes.
Complaints and how to avoid problems
We found few public reviews specific to TELUS’s medical alert service. TELUS as a whole scores 1.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 2,916 reviews, mostly about phone and internet billing, contract terms and support. Those themes matter here because the same billing and term rules apply.

If the person only needs a button at home and rarely goes out alone, a basic in-home plan from a no-contract provider may do the job for less. If they already wear an Apple Watch, its built-in fall detection can call 911 without any monthly fee, though no operator follows up.
