For most small and midsize businesses Zoho CRM is the better buy: it is free for 3 users and its paid plans run $14 to $52 a user a month billed yearly, while Salesforce's Sales Cloud editions cost $195 to $550 a user a month on annual contracts. Salesforce's own small business suites ($25 Starter and $100 Pro) narrow the gap, but its strength is deep customization, a huge app ecosystem and enterprise features that usually need an admin or partner. Choose Salesforce when you have a large or complex sales operation and the budget to run it; otherwise Zoho does the core job for far less.

Ratings and complaint records
Our score and sub-scores from each company's review, with the facts both reviews list.
Price: how big is the gap?
Price is the main reason people search this comparison, and the gap is large once you leave the entry tiers.
- Zoho CRM: free for 3 users; Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 and Ultimate $52 a user a month billed yearly ($20 to $65 billed monthly).
- Salesforce: Free Suite for up to 2 users; Starter Suite $25 a user a month; Pro Suite $100 billed yearly; Sales Cloud Core $195, Advanced $395 and Max $550 a user a month billed yearly, as listed in October 2026.
For 10 users on annual billing, Zoho CRM Enterprise costs about $4,800 a year. Salesforce Pro Suite costs $12,000 a year and Sales Cloud Core $23,400 a year, before add-ons. Salesforce lists many tools separately, including Agentforce for Sales from $125, Revenue Intelligence from $220 and Sales Programs from $100 a user a month, and Premier Success support at 30% of net license fees on plans where it is not included.
Budget for setup too. Zoho is usually configured in-house; Salesforce deployments of any size typically involve an admin or an implementation partner, which is a real cost on top of licenses.
Features and customization
Both cover the CRM basics: leads, contacts, accounts, deals, pipelines, tasks, email integration, workflow automation, forecasting and dashboards. The difference is depth and who it is built for.
Salesforce can be configured for almost any sales process. Its higher editions add advanced forecasting, APIs, enhanced security and backup, Slack and Tableau features, and AI agents through Agentforce. Its app marketplace and partner network are the largest in the CRM market, which is why large companies standardize on it. Its mobile app is rated 4.8 out of 5 from about 353,750 App Store ratings.
Zoho CRM packs custom modules, workflow rules, territory setups, an AI assistant called Zia and reporting into plans that cost a fraction of Salesforce’s. It also ties into Zoho’s own suite; Zoho One bundles 50+ apps from $37 per employee a month billed yearly if you license every employee. The tradeoffs are a busier interface and a smaller partner ecosystem.
Most reviewers frame it the same way: Zoho is faster to deploy and cheaper; Salesforce wins on analytics, scale and integrations.
Contracts, refunds and reputation
Salesforce uses annual contracts on most products; only Starter Suite can be billed monthly. Its pricing page says terms vary by product and that prices are for information only. Public reviews are poor: 1.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 659 reviews, 85% of them one star, mostly about billing, renewals and cancellation. Its BBB rating is A- with 83 complaints in the last three years. Read the order form’s term and auto-renewal clauses before you sign.
Zoho bills monthly or yearly and refunds in full in the first month of a monthly plan or the first 45 days of an annual plan. Plans renew automatically unless you downgrade to the free plan or tell Zoho you will not renew. Its Trustpilot score is 3.8 out of 5 across all products; its BBB profile is Not Rated while Zoho responds to previously closed complaints, and slow support is the most common complaint.
Neither is complaint-free. The practical difference is commitment: you can try Zoho month to month with a refund window, while Salesforce usually locks you into a year.
Who should pick which
Choose Zoho CRM if:
- You have a small or midsize sales team and a standard sales process.
- You want to start free for up to three users, then pay $14 to $52 a user a month.
- You do not have, or want to hire, a dedicated CRM admin.
- You would use other Zoho apps for mail, invoicing or support.
Choose Salesforce if:
- You have a large or multi-team sales organization with complex territories, approvals or forecasting.
- You need integrations with enterprise systems or industry apps from its marketplace.
- You can budget for annual contracts, add-ons and an admin or implementation partner.
- You expect to grow into AI agents, revenue tools or advanced analytics.
If you are a small team curious about Salesforce, its Starter Suite at $25 a user a month is a reasonable test, and its 30-day Sales Cloud trial needs no credit card. Compare that against a month on Zoho with the same deals and users before committing to a year with either.
