Our verdict

Golden Portfolio is a real, Florida-based gold stock research newsletter run by Garrett Goggin, CFA, CMT. It is not a Gold IRA company, a dealer or a financial advisor, so it never holds your money or metal; you buy its picks yourself through a brokerage. Most online Golden Portfolio reviews come from affiliate sites that earn a commission, its performance figures are self-reported, and we found no BBB or Trustpilot profile to check against, so treat glowing reviews with caution. The entry tier is the only one with a refund window (75% back within 30 days), and higher tiers are final sale.

Cons

  • Not a Gold IRA, bullion dealer or custodian, despite the name
  • Performance and track record claims are self-published, not independently audited
  • Higher tiers ($3,500 and up) are final sale, and Pro is never refundable
  • Auto-renewal is on by default, so you have to cancel before the renewal date
  • No BBB or Trustpilot profile, and testimonials on its site repeat the same text under different names
  • Narrow focus on gold and silver miners and royalty stocks, which can swing hard

Best for: Self-directed investors with a brokerage account who want focused research on gold royalty, mining and exploration stocks.

Skip it if: You want a Gold IRA, physical bullion, a rollover or someone to manage money for you, since Golden Portfolio does none of that.

Promotional pages can be cheaper: The Stock Dork, an affiliate, lists a Golden Portfolio IV offer at $189 a year. The refund policy also names Elite versions of each tier, which are final sale. If you buy GPIV in the same order as other tiers and return it, the 25% fee applies to the whole order.

Golden Portfolio, step by step

  1. Buy a tier

Order online or call 1-833-780-3479. Check the order page for the price and the renewal rate, because promotional pages differ from retail.

  2. Read the research

You get issues, company reports, a model portfolio and news on the members site. Nothing is tailored to your finances.

  3. Place trades yourself

Golden Portfolio never touches your money. You buy or skip each pick in your own brokerage account.

  4. Decide within 30 days

Only Golden Portfolio IV can be returned, and only within 30 days of the order, for 75% of what you paid.

  5. Cancel before renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically. Call or email support before the renewal date and keep the confirmation.

Golden Portfolio legitimacy and licensing

Golden Portfolio is a real, operating newsletter. Its site names Garrett Goggin, CFA, CMT as founder and chief analyst, lists retail prices, and publishes a refund policy and terms. Its terms say it is registered in Florida and that it is a publisher, not a financial advisor, so you get general research and you make your own trades. We found no investment adviser firm named Golden Portfolio in the SEC’s adviser database, which is normal for a publisher that gives the same research to every subscriber.

Two cautions apply. First, most search results for Golden Portfolio reviews are affiliate pages that are paid when you subscribe, and we found no BBB profile, no Trustpilot page and no independent review base to check against. Second, return figures quoted in its marketing are the publisher’s own numbers. The SEC warns that false performance claims and undisclosed stock promotion are common newsletter problems, so check any pick yourself before you buy it. Golden Portfolio’s terms say it takes no compensation for recommending companies, which is a good sign, but that is its own statement.

Golden Portfolio pricing and refunds

The publisher lists these retail prices: Golden Portfolio IV at $500, Golden Portfolio at $3,500, Golden Portfolio 10X at $3,500 and Golden Portfolio Pro at $18,000. Promotional sales pages can be cheaper. The Stock Dork, an affiliate reviewer, lists a Golden Portfolio IV offer of $189 a year, so the price you pay depends on the page you buy from.

Read the refund rules before paying. Only Golden Portfolio IV can be refunded, within 30 days of the original order, and you get 75% back because the company keeps a 25% test drive fee. The Elite versions and the other tiers are final sale unless bought in the same order as Golden Portfolio IV, and in that case the 25% fee applies to the whole order. Pro is never refundable. Subscriptions renew automatically, so put the renewal date on your calendar.

What you get with each tier

Golden Portfolio IV is the entry service. It covers what the publisher calls Inflation Protection Machines, meaning gold royalty companies, plus smaller explorers. The Stock Dork’s review describes it as a quarterly newsletter with a live model portfolio and alerts between issues.

The flagship Golden Portfolio sends a monthly issue with three royalty company reports, an online live portfolio, blog updates and video interviews with mining executives. Golden Portfolio 10X is a thirty-company portfolio of smaller miners, developers and explorers, with five company reports a month. Pro bundles all three for as long as you want them, adds invitations to company-hosted mine visits, and gives first access to deals the publisher is invited into. Pro buyers get credit for what they already spent on Goggin’s research.

Key Takeaway: Golden Portfolio (Expert Score: 4.6/5.0)

Golden Portfolio earns an Expert Score of 4.6/5.0 from BestGuide as a precious-metals investment research publisher. Read this first if you found this page expecting a Gold IRA company: Golden Portfolio is not one. It is a subscription research service run by analyst Garrett Goggin, CFA, CMT. It publishes monthly research on gold royalty companies, miners, developers, and explorers. It does not open IRAs, sell physical gold, arrange custodians, or store metal in a depository. If physical-metal retirement custody is what you want, this is the wrong type of company, and the buyer’s guide linked below points you to firms that actually provide it.

Best for: self-directed investors who want professional research on gold-sector equities and want to build their own positions through a regular brokerage.
Not for: anyone seeking a Gold IRA, physical bullion purchase, rollover service, or asset custody.

Golden Portfolio earns an Expert Score of 4.6 out of 5.0 from BestGuide. This Golden Portfolio review explains what the company is, who runs it, what it costs, and who it genuinely fits, because the name attracts a lot of readers who are searching for something it does not provide.

The most important thing to understand upfront: Golden Portfolio is a research publication, not a Gold IRA company. The two get confused constantly because both involve gold and retirement-minded investors. A Gold IRA company helps you open a self-directed retirement account, sells you IRS-approved physical metal, arranges a custodian, and ships the metal to an approved depository. Golden Portfolio does none of that. What it sells is information: monthly written research, model portfolios, and analysis of publicly traded gold-sector companies that you would then buy yourself through your own brokerage account.

If you are specifically trying to move a 401(k) or IRA into physical gold, you want a different kind of provider entirely. If you are an investor who wants a credentialed analyst’s research on where the opportunities are in the gold-mining and royalty space, Golden Portfolio is built for exactly that.

What Golden Portfolio Actually Is

Golden Portfolio is a precious-metals investment research and newsletter service. Subscribers receive a full issue every month containing company-specific reports and a lead article on recent developments in the precious-metals market. Higher tiers add access to an online live portfolio, a research blog, and recorded interviews with company management. The editorial focus is what the publication calls “Inflation Protection Machines,” its term for gold royalty companies, alongside smaller miners, developers, and explorers.

In plain terms, you are paying for stock-picking research and education in one narrow sector: gold and silver equities. You execute any trades yourself. Golden Portfolio never touches your money or your assets.

Who Runs Golden Portfolio

The publication is founded and led by Garrett Goggin, who holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations and an MS and MBA from Babson College. By his account, he worked on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange in the 1990s, later traded derivative arbitrage, and spent over fifteen years as a precious-metals analyst with the research firms Gold Stock Analyst and Stansberry Research before launching Golden Portfolio. That is a real, named, credentialed person standing behind the research, which is a meaningful trust signal in a newsletter space where authorship is often anonymous.

Frequently Asked Questions About Golden Portfolio

Is Golden Portfolio a Gold IRA company?
No. Golden Portfolio is a precious-metals investment research and newsletter publisher. It does not open IRAs, sell physical gold, arrange custodians, or store metal. If you want a Gold IRA, you need a different type of provider.

What do you actually get with Golden Portfolio?
You get subscription research: monthly written reports on gold-sector companies, a lead market article, and, on higher tiers, access to a live model portfolio and recorded management interviews. You make and execute your own investment decisions through your own brokerage.

Who runs Golden Portfolio?
It is founded and led by Garrett Goggin, a CFA and CMT charterholder who previously spent over fifteen years as a precious-metals analyst at established research firms before launching the publication.

Why doesn’t Golden Portfolio have a BBB rating?
Because it is a research publisher, not a retail dealer, broker, or advisor that handles consumer transactions or assets. That kind of publishing entity falls outside the business categories the BBB profiles, so the absence of a rating is expected rather than a warning sign.

How much does Golden Portfolio cost?
Retail prices are published openly: Golden Portfolio IV is $500, Golden Portfolio and Golden Portfolio 10X are $3,500 each, and the Golden Portfolio Pro bundle is $18,000. Only the entry tier offers a partial refund window.

Is Golden Portfolio legit?
Yes. It is a real, operating publication with a named, credentialed analyst, transparent pricing, and a published refund policy, and our research found no regulatory actions against it. Just understand it sells research, not advice or asset management, and its performance figures are self-reported.

What Golden Portfolio reviews tell you

Positive Golden Portfolio reviews online mostly come from sites that earn a commission on sales, and they repeat the publisher’s own return figures, such as gains on individual picks since Golden Portfolio IV launched in January 2024. We did not find a BBB profile, a Trustpilot page, a regulator action or a large independent customer review base. That means there is little outside evidence either way about results or customer service.

The testimonials on Golden Portfolio’s own site deserve a close look. Several appear twice with the same wording under different names or initials, which makes them weak evidence. If you try the service, start with the entry tier, track the picks against a gold miners index fund for a year, and cancel before renewal if it does not add value.

Risks of following a gold stock newsletter

Gold miners, developers and explorers are among the most volatile stocks you can buy. Small explorers can lose most of their value on a bad drill result or a financing, and many trade thinly, so a newsletter recommendation can move the price before you get your order in. Golden Portfolio’s terms say Goggin may own positions in the securities he writes about and that he will not act against what he publishes. That disclosure is useful, but it also means his results and yours can differ.

Keep any single sector, especially a speculative one, to a small share of your portfolio. Read each company’s own filings, check how a quoted return was measured, and see the SEC’s investor alert on newsletters before you act on any pick.

How to cancel Golden Portfolio

Call 1-833-780-3479 or email the support address on its contact page. Its terms say subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current renewal fee and that lifetime members are billed an annual maintenance fee each year, so cancel before that date and ask for written confirmation. If you are within 30 days of buying Golden Portfolio IV, ask for the refund at the same time; returns sent after 30 days are not eligible.

Alternatives to Golden Portfolio

  • A gold miners index fund such as GDX or GDXJ Gives you the same sector exposure for about $51 to $52 a year per $10,000, with no subscription and no picks to second-guess.
  • Free company filings on SEDAR+ and SEC EDGAR Most gold miners file technical reports and quarterly results publicly, so you can check any newsletter pick yourself at no cost.
  • A Gold IRA company The right type of company if what you actually want is physical gold in a retirement account, which Golden Portfolio does not offer. Read review
  • A fee-only fiduciary advisor Better if you want advice that fits your whole portfolio and risk tolerance rather than general stock picks.
