Quick verdict

If you already have Xfinity Internet at 300 Mbps or faster, Xfinity Mobile is the better deal in year one, since new members can get a Mobile Select line free for 12 months on Verizon's network. Without Xfinity Internet you can't buy it, and Mint's $30 unlimited on a 12-month plan is the cheaper path. After the first year the per-line prices are close, so coverage decides it: Mint uses T-Mobile, Xfinity uses Verizon. Mint scores much better on satisfaction; Xfinity has stores and larger family accounts.

Who can buy each one

Mint Mobile is open to anyone with a compatible phone. You buy a plan online or at a retailer, activate an eSIM or SIM, and pay for 3, 6 or 12 months upfront.

Xfinity Mobile is only for Xfinity Internet customers, and an internet account is required when you sign up. Xfinity’s listed mobile prices also include a $10 a month internet customer discount. If you’re not an Xfinity Internet customer, this comparison is already decided for you.

If you are, Xfinity’s new member offer is the biggest single factor. New Xfinity Mobile members with residential internet of 300 Mbps or faster can get one Mobile Select line for $0 a month for 12 months through bill credits, or Mobile Plus for $15 a month. The credit covers one Select line’s value, so extra lines are charged normally.

Mint has no comparable free year, but its 3 and 6 month plans carry introductory prices for new customers, and its 7-day money back guarantee lets you test the network on a plan bought directly from Mint.

Think about the long run too. If you might switch internet providers, a Mint line moves with you; an Xfinity Mobile line depends on keeping Comcast at home.

Price after promotions

At regular prices, the two are close for one unlimited line. Mint Unlimited works out to $30 a month on a 12-month plan, paid as $360 upfront. Xfinity Mobile Select is $30 a line each month. Both add taxes and fees, and Mint’s labels list a recovery fee of about $1.75 to $2.58 a month.

Mint is cheaper for light users. Its 12-month plans start at $15 a month for 6GB, $20 for 17GB and $25 for 23GB. Xfinity stopped selling its By the Gig shared data plan to customers who joined after April 22, 2026, so new customers choose between Select at $30 and Plus at $45.

Xfinity can be cheaper for families who want monthly billing. Its per-line price stays the same for 1 to 12 lines, so four Select lines are $120 a month plus taxes. On Mint, four 12-month Unlimited lines would mean $1,440 paid upfront.

Watch Mint’s renewal prices. Its regular 3-month prices are $25 to $45 a month, higher than the 12-month rates. Xfinity’s free year ends after 12 monthly credits, after which you pay the normal $30.

Network, data and hotspot

Coverage is the clearest difference. Mint runs on T-Mobile’s network, and T-Mobile has owned Mint since May 2024. Xfinity Mobile runs on Verizon’s network under an agreement Comcast describes in its annual report, and phones also connect to more than 20 million Xfinity WiFi hotspots. Check both coverage maps at home and work.

The data rules are similar at the base level. Mint Unlimited may slow after 50GB when the network is busy and streams video in SD. Xfinity Mobile Select may slow after 50GB in congestion and streams at 720p. Xfinity Mobile Plus at $45 adds data that isn’t deprioritized and 4K video. Mint has no priority tier.

For hotspot, Mint Unlimited includes up to 20GB. Xfinity Select includes 15GB at 5G speeds before dropping to 3G speeds, and Plus includes 50GB.

For travel, Xfinity includes Global Travel Pass in more than 215 destinations with 10GB of high-speed data a month. Mint includes calls to Mexico, Canada and the UK and sells international add-ons.

Customer service and satisfaction

Mint scored 711 out of 1,000 in J.D. Power’s 2026 study, the highest among prepaid MVNOs. Xfinity Mobile wasn’t among the scored brands in coverage of that study.

On complaints, both have work to do. Mint’s BBB profile shows a B- rating and 2,132 complaints in three years, and its Trustpilot score is 3.0 out of 5. Comcast’s BBB profile, which covers all Xfinity services, has an A+ rating but 26,477 complaints in three years, and Xfinity’s overall Trustpilot score is 1.2 out of 5.

Mint complaints are mostly about hard-to-reach support, number transfers and renewal prices. Xfinity complaints are mostly about billing errors and promotions that didn’t apply as promised.

Xfinity has stores and phone support and sells phones with monthly payments and device protection. Mint is online only.

With Xfinity, save the offer terms and check your first two bills. With Mint, read the renewal price before you buy a 3 or 6 month plan, and use the 7-day guarantee window to test coverage.
