Yes. Intego has made Mac security software since 1997, starting with VirusBarrier for Mac OS 8. Kape Technologies bought it in July 2018 for $16 million; Kape also owns ExpressVPN, and Intego’s VPN uses ExpressVPN’s Lightway protocol. The U.S. company, Intego, Inc., is based in Austin, Texas. Its Mac apps are notarized by Apple, and Intego Mac Internet Security X9 was certified in AV-Comparatives’ 2025 Mac security test.
The current Mac product is Intego ONE, a single app that combines antivirus, firewall, cleanup and VPN depending on the plan. The 2025 lab certification covered the earlier X9 suite, so look for newer test results that name Intego ONE.
Intego pricing and renewal
For one Mac on a 1-year plan, Intego listed Essential at $29.99, Advanced at $48.99 and Complete at $58.49 for the first year in October 2026, discounts of 25% to 35%. Each renews automatically at the full price: $39.99, $69.99 and $89.99 a year. Five-Mac plans run $52.49 to $90.99 the first year and renew at $69.99 to $139.99.
Two-year plans lock in the discount longer. To avoid an unexpected charge, note your renewal date and turn off automatic renewal in your account if you do not plan to keep it. You have 30 days after purchase to ask for a refund.

Every plan includes real-time antivirus that removes viruses, Malware. Any software designed to harm a device or steal data, including viruses, spyware and Ransomware. Malware that locks or encrypts your files and demands payment to release them. Compare antivirus software. Do Macs need antivirus?
Apple builds several layers into macOS: Gatekeeper and notarization to stop untrusted apps from launching, and XProtect to detect and remove known malware. For many people who install apps only from the App Store or trusted developers and keep macOS updated, that is reasonable protection at no cost.
