Lofta suits people who want a fast diagnosis without a sleep lab and are willing to pay cash, since Lofta does not bill insurance and Medicare and Medicaid will not pay for anything it sells. It is a legitimate San Diego company that sells a $189 at-home sleep apnea test read by independent sleep physicians, plus CPAP machines, supplies and coaching. The tradeoff is service: Trustpilot reviews are mostly one star, with complaints about slow results, shipping and refunds. If you have Medicare or good insurance, a doctor-ordered sleep study and an in-network supplier will usually cost you less.

Lofta, step by step
Order the test
Pay $189 online and fill out a medical history form.
Short video visit
An independent medical practice reviews your history on a brief video call, usually under 5 minutes, and approves the test. If the doctor says a home test isn't right for you, Lofta refunds the order.
Sleep one night with the device
Wear the WatchPAT One on your wrist and finger with a chest sensor. It sends the data to the doctor through its app.
Get your sleep report
A sleep physician reads the results and you get a report, plus a CPAP prescription and therapy recommendation if you're diagnosed. A Lofta sleep coach walks you through it.
Buy equipment if needed
You can buy a CPAP from Lofta or take the prescription to any supplier, including one that bills your insurance.
Lofta legitimacy and licensing
Yes. Lofta, LLC was founded in San Diego in 2016 and sells an at-home sleep apnea test that independent, board-certified sleep physicians read, along with CPAP equipment and coaching. Lofta itself does not diagnose or prescribe; the doctors in its network do. The test uses the WatchPAT One from Itamar Medical, which Lofta describes as FDA and DOT approved.
Ownership changed in 2026. On August 17, 2026, ReDream Brands, a sleep company built around cpap.com and backed by Cathay Capital, closed its purchase of Lofta from Accendra Health along with The CPAP Shop. Lofta now says it is part of ReDream Brands and is no longer affiliated with Apria Healthcare or Accendra Health.
How much Lofta costs
The home sleep test is $189. That covers the approval video call, the disposable WatchPAT One device, the physician’s sleep report and a CPAP prescription if you’re diagnosed. Lofta says in-lab studies run $1,000 to $7,000, though with insurance your share of a lab or home study can be far lower.
Equipment is where most of the money goes. In October 2026 Lofta listed the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet at $1,004 to $1,044, and the AirMini travel CPAP at $919. Its Philips DreamStation 2 Auto listing ($879) shows as unavailable, because Philips can’t sell new CPAPs in the U.S. under an April 2024 consent decree. LoftaCare coaching is $200, prescription renewal through RxExpress is $35, and quarterly resupply is $99.
Does Lofta take insurance or Medicare?
No. Lofta says it does not work with insurance companies and that any reimbursement is up to your insurer, so check with your plan before you buy. Lofta also has no Medicare or Medicaid supplier number, which means those programs will not pay for equipment or supplies you buy from Lofta and you are fully responsible for the cost.
If you have Medicare, Part B covers sleep tests when you have signs of sleep apnea and your doctor orders the test; you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after the deductible. CPAP machines bought through a Medicare supplier are also covered under separate rules.
What customers say about Lofta
Recurring themes across the review sites and complaint records listed above, not individual quotes.
Common praise
- Easy one-night test at home instead of a sleep lab
- Helpful sales and coaching staff when they respond
- Fast test processing and shipping for some customers
Common complaints
- Slow or unresponsive customer service
- Shipping problems, including lost or misdelivered packages
- Results slower than customers expected, even after paying for faster service
- Slow or disputed refunds and returns
Lofta complaints and how to avoid problems
Lofta’s Trustpilot profile has a 2.5 rating from 34 reviews, and 62% are one star. The recurring complaints are slow or missing replies from support, lost or misdelivered packages, results that took longer than expected, and slow refunds. Lofta’s own product page shows a 4.5 rating from more than 4,000 reviews, but those are collected by Lofta.
To protect yourself, pay by credit card, save your order confirmation, track your delivery, and put any refund or return request in writing with the RMA number Lofta gives you. Keep CPAP boxes and manuals until you’re sure you’re keeping the machine.
Lofta return and refund policy
You can return most products within 60 nights of delivery. New, unopened items are refunded to your original payment method; used or opened items are refunded as Lofta store credit that doesn’t expire. Either way, you pay return shipping, expedited shipping isn’t refunded, and refunds can take up to 10 business days. You must get a Return Merchandise Authorization number first, and you can return the same item only once.
Many items can never be returned once opened, including mask cushions, frames and headgear, tubing, filters and other CPAP parts, batteries and power adapters, cleaning supplies, and LoftaCare Plus and Complete. For the sleep test, Lofta refunds the full order if the doctor decides a home test isn’t right for you.
Who should skip Lofta
Skip Lofta if you have Medicare, Medicaid or a plan that covers sleep studies and CPAP, since you’ll likely pay less through an in-network supplier. Lofta’s own page says home tests aren’t recommended for people with heart or lung disease, a history of stroke, insomnia or hypoventilation; ask your doctor about an in-lab study instead. And if you’re mostly shopping on price, cpap.com, now under the same parent, lists a home test at $99.
See a doctor promptly if you have severe daytime sleepiness, especially if you drive for a living, or if a partner notices you stop breathing at night.

- Aeroflow Sleep Better if you want your CPAP and supplies billed through insurance instead of paying cash. Read review
- A sleep study ordered by your own doctor Medicare Part B covers home and lab sleep tests when you have symptoms of sleep apnea, and you pay 20% after the deductible, so this is usually cheaper if you have coverage.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Lofta sleep test?
$189. It includes the approval video call, the WatchPAT One device, a sleep report read by a board-certified physician, and a CPAP prescription if you're diagnosed.
Does Lofta accept insurance?
No. Lofta is cash pay and says reimbursement is up to your insurer. It has no Medicare or Medicaid supplier number, so those programs won't pay for equipment bought from Lofta.
Is Lofta a legitimate company?
Yes. Lofta, LLC has operated in San Diego since 2016, uses independent sleep physicians for diagnosis, and is now part of ReDream Brands, the group that runs cpap.com. Its customer service record is weak, though.
Who owns Lofta?
ReDream Brands, which also includes cpap.com, The CPAP Shop and sleeping.com. ReDream bought Lofta from Accendra Health in deals announced August 17, 2026.
What sleep test does Lofta use?
The WatchPAT One from Itamar Medical, a disposable device worn on the wrist and finger with a chest sensor. It records breathing-related signals, oxygen, heart rate, snoring and body position for one night.
Can I use Lofta's prescription to buy a CPAP somewhere else?
Lofta's report includes a CPAP prescription if you're diagnosed. You can take it to another supplier, including one that bills your insurance.
What is Lofta's return policy?
60 nights from delivery. Unopened items get a refund to your card, used items get store credit, and you pay return shipping. Masks, tubing, filters and many other supplies can't be returned once opened.
What if the doctor says a home test isn't right for me?
Lofta says it refunds your order in full if the physician decides an at-home sleep test is not appropriate. Ask your own doctor about an in-lab sleep study in that case.
How accurate is a home sleep apnea test?
Lofta's own page says home sleep test accuracy ranges from 68% to 91%, and it describes WatchPAT One as having an 89% correlation to in-lab studies. A negative home test doesn't rule out sleep apnea if you still have symptoms, so follow up with a doctor.
What is LoftaCare?
A $200 coaching package where Lofta's team helps you adjust to CPAP with setup help and check-ins. If you didn't use Lofta's test, your prescription needs a 'titrate to comfort' note for full service.
