Nuheara's working store pages are regional (Australia, UK, EU, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong). U.S. product pages returned errors in October 2026, so U.S. listings are mostly resellers or used units.
Pair with the app
IQbuds connect to the Nuheara IQbuds app on iPhone or Android, which runs the Ear ID hearing check and sets noise and speech modes.
Run the hearing check
Ear ID uses the NAL-NL2 fitting formula to adjust the buds to your results. It is not a substitute for a test by an audiologist.

Nuheara business status
Partly. The company that created Nuheara, ASX-listed Nuheara Limited, appointed KPMG as voluntary administrators on August 7, 2024 after it could not reach a deal with Realtek, its chip supplier and convertible note holder. Nuheara kept trading during the administration.
In March 2025 creditors approved a deed of company arrangement with Orecchio Pty Ltd, and the business sale agreements were signed. The deed took full effect on June 19, 2025. Creditors’ claims moved to the Nuheara Group Creditors’ Trust, and Nuheara Limited itself is being wound up, with KPMG acting as liquidators.
The brand carries on under Orecchio Pty Ltd trading as Nuheara, based in Subiaco, Western Australia. Its site still sells IQbuds2 MAX and spare parts in several regions. Some older reviews say HP bought Nuheara; that is not correct. HP licensed its brand name to Nuheara for the HP Hearing PRO hearing aid, and the HP Hearing PRO site no longer loads.
Nuheara legitimacy and licensing
Nuheara is a real company with real products. IQbuds2 MAX launched at CES 2020 and won three CES Innovation Awards, and Nuheara’s IQbuds2 PRO hearing aid received FDA 510(k) clearance in October 2022. The concern today is not whether the products exist but whether the business behind them can support you.
After the 2024 collapse, the new owner’s U.S. product pages return errors, the iPhone app has not had an update since 2022, and Trustpilot shows only one review in the past year. Its BBB profile, an A+ for a San Rafael, California address, has no complaints or reviews on file, so it tells you little about current support. Pay by credit card if you buy, and buy from a seller with a clear return policy.
Is Nuheara a hearing aid?
IQbuds2 MAX is a hearing earbud, sometimes called a hearable. It uses three microphones per bud, hybrid active noise cancellation, a Speech in Noise Control mode and a directional focus setting. The app runs an Ear ID hearing check based on the NAL-NL2 fitting formula and tunes the sound to your results.
It is not an FDA cleared hearing aid. Nuheara’s FDA cleared product was the IQbuds2 PRO, sold in the U.S. as HP Hearing PRO, a self-fitting OTC hearing aid (510(k) K221064). If you want a device regulated as a hearing aid, look for a current OTC hearing aid instead.

Nuheara lists a customer support email and a returns request form on its contact page, plus a Perth office open 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Western Australia time. Its help center (support.nuheara.com) blocked automated access, so we could not confirm the current warranty terms.
The IQbuds app on the U.S. App Store is at version 3.3.4, last updated September 8, 2022. The buds can keep working without updates, but an app that is not maintained can stop working after a major phone software update. If you rely on Nuheara for daily hearing, have a backup plan.
Nuheara complaints and how to avoid problems
Negative reviews on Trustpilot and ProductReview.com.au center on buds or cases that fail after about a year, slow replies from support, and spare parts that cost extra or arrive in the wrong size. To protect yourself:
- Buy from a seller that handles returns itself, and use a credit card for chargeback rights.
- Test the buds right away and contact the seller within the 30-day window if they do not help.
- Keep proof of purchase, since warranty claims may now go through a different company than the one that sold your buds.
- Avoid paying for parts or repairs by bank transfer to unfamiliar sellers.
When to see a hearing professional
The FDA says to see a doctor before using an OTC hearing device if your hearing changed suddenly, you hear worse in one ear, you have ringing in only one ear, you had fluid from the ear in the past 6 months, or you have ear pain or dizziness. If earbuds with hearing modes are not enough in conversations, an audiologist can test your hearing and recommend a hearing aid.
