Its help center lists a San Francisco mailing address and the phone line (800) 222-8985, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific.
Legit doesn’t mean problem free. The FTC has taken action against it twice (2014 and 2023), and its Trustpilot score is 1.5 out of 5, mostly over billing.

2014: Instant Checkmate, Inc. paid a $525,000 civil penalty to settle FTC charges that it acted as a Consumer reporting agency. The rules: why you can't use it for hiring or renting
Instant Checkmate says it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and that you may not use its reports to decide on credit, employment, insurance, housing or tenant screening.
