ResMed's AirSense 11 is the machine most U.S. sellers stock, and it was not part of the Philips or React Health actions. It is a legitimate, publicly traded maker of sleep apnea machines and masks (NYSE: RMD), based in San Diego, with $5.7 billion in revenue in fiscal 2026. The tradeoffs: machines cost about $1,000 or more without insurance, ResMed's own shop takes no insurance and only accepts unopened returns within 30 days, and seven popular mask models were in a 2023 Class I FDA correction over magnets that can affect implants. Talk to your sleep doctor about which machine and mask fit your prescription.

All machines need a prescription. Prices change often. With insurance or Medicare, an in-network supplier usually costs you less than any cash price: Medicare Part B covers CPAP machines and supplies after the deductible, with 20% coinsurance, through an enrolled supplier. The Resmed Shop accepts HSA and FSA cards.

ResMed legitimacy and licensing
Yes. Resmed Inc. is a San Diego medical device company listed on the New York and Australian stock exchanges. For the year ended June 30, 2026 it reported $5.7 billion in revenue, up 10%. Its AirSense, AirCurve and AirMini machines are sold through sleep clinics, home medical equipment suppliers, online sellers and its own Resmed Shop.
Two records are worth knowing. In January 2020 ResMed agreed to pay $37.5 million to resolve U.S. allegations that it gave suppliers, sleep labs and others free or below-cost equipment and services to win business. The claims were allegations only, with no finding of liability, and ResMed entered a corporate integrity agreement with HHS OIG. And in fiscal 2026 it booked $42 million in costs for a field safety notification on its Astral ventilators, a separate product line from CPAP.
How much a ResMed CPAP costs
Without insurance, the AirSense 11 AutoSet costs $1,054 at ResMed’s own shop with standard tubing, or $1,096 with heated tubing. Other cash sellers we checked in October 2026 listed it at $989 to $1,004. The AirMini travel machine is $919, and the older AirSense 10 is $1,008 at the Resmed Shop. A mask is extra unless you buy a bundle.
If you have insurance or Medicare, go through a covered supplier. The Resmed Shop is run by Expedite LLC, a ResMed company, and accepts no insurance, Medicare or Medicaid; it says its orders are not eligible for reimbursement. It does accept HSA and FSA cards.
ResMed recalls and FDA actions
On November 20, 2023, ResMed started a correction for masks with magnetic clips: AirFit N10, F20, N20, F30 and F30i, and AirTouch F20 and N20, sold from January 2020. The FDA classed it as Class I, its most serious level, and listed 20,414,357 masks in the U.S. and six injuries, no deaths. The masks were not removed from sale; labels were updated. The FDA says to keep the magnets at least 6 inches from implants or devices that magnets can affect, such as some pacemakers, and to ask your doctor if you have one.
ResMed machines were not part of the Philips Respironics foam recall or the 2026 React Health warning letters.

ResMed warranty and return policy
ResMed’s U.S. limited warranty, updated March 11, 2025, covers CPAP machines and humidifiers for 2 years, mask systems, tubes and water tubs for 90 days, and memory foam cushions for 7 days. It covers only the original buyer and excludes damage from misuse, unauthorized repairs, smoke, insects, and ozone or activated oxygen cleaners.
From the Resmed Shop, you can return items unopened and unused within 30 days of delivery for a refund. Full mask systems can be exchanged within 30 days, but not refunded. For warranty claims on a shop order, contact the shop’s customer service, which inspects the device and replaces it if covered. If you got your machine from a supplier, start the claim with them.
ResMed complaints
The Trustpilot profile tied to resmed.com belongs to ResMed’s German business but collects reviews from several countries; it scores 2.5 out of 5 from 267 reviews. Common complaints are slow or hard-to-reach support, machines that fail after the warranty ends, warranty disputes over water damage or devices bought abroad, and app data problems. Praise centers on how well the machines work. Product reviews from sellers are far higher: cpap.com’s AirSense 11 listing averages 4.5 out of 5 from 901 reviews.
To avoid trouble, keep your receipt and serial number, use distilled water, don’t use ozone cleaners, and ask your supplier who handles warranty repairs before you buy.
Who should skip buying direct from ResMed
Skip the Resmed Shop if insurance or Medicare covers CPAP, if you want a trial period on a machine you’ve opened, or if you want the lowest cash price. Talk to your doctor before choosing any magnetic-clip mask if you or someone who sleeps near you has an implant or medical device that magnets can affect.
