It is a real paid service, not a government site, and that difference is the main thing to know. The home page of pretsa-pass-us.com, branded Apply Travel Program, says its services are not affiliated with the federal government, and its order form at pretsa.pre-traveler-application.com says the same. TSA says CLEAR, IDEMIA and Telos are the only authorized PreCheck enrollment providers, and that any site claiming to register you for PreCheck that does not end in .gov is not an official PreCheck website.
The site does not name the company behind it, list an address or show a phone number before you pay. When we searched the BBB for the domains pretsa-pass-us.com and pre-traveler-application.com, both returned the profile of Global Enrollment Center LLC in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which also appears as Apply Global Entry and Global Traveler Assist. That profile has an F rating, is not accredited and shows 55 complaints in three years. A random domain returned no match, so the link appears to come from BBB’s own records, but we could not confirm it from the company’s site.
What Apply Travel Program costs vs. applying yourself
Its pricing page lists a $149 processing fee plus an $85 PreCheck membership fee paid to the government, for a total under $235. The linked order form charges $149.95 and lists TSA fees of $79.75 for new applications, $58.75 for online renewals and $66.75 for in-person renewals, which match IDEMIA’s prices on tsa.gov.
If you go to tsa.gov yourself, you pay only the provider’s fee: $79.75 with IDEMIA, $84.95 with CLEAR or $85.00 with Telos for five years. That means the service roughly triples the cost of a new application.
