Install the device
A certified installer fits the tracker to the vehicle, trailer or asset. Spireon says it runs a nationwide installation network.
Activate and register
Activate service and, for LoJack owners, register the system on lojack.com so recovery and warranty records are in your name.
Track in the app or portal
Use the LoJack, GoldStar or FleetLocate app or web portal for location, alerts, geofences and battery or maintenance data.

Yes. Spireon, Inc. traces back to GPS companies merged in 2011 and rebranded as Spireon. It bought CalAmp’s US LoJack stolen vehicle recovery business in 2021, and Solera Holdings signed a deal on February 1, 2022 to buy Spireon from Greenbriar Equity. LoJack’s website now reads ‘by Solera’. Spireon says it has 3.5 million active subscribers and has shipped more than 15 million devices.
Legitimate isn’t the same as well reviewed. Spireon’s Trustpilot page scores 1.2 out of 5 from 112 reviews, and it hasn’t replied to negative ones. We found no BBB profile under the Spireon name and no CFPB complaints naming it. One small sign of neglect: in October 2026 its website still displayed a notice about the July 2024 CrowdStrike outage.
Spireon cost
Spireon doesn’t publish prices for GoldStar, LoJack or FleetLocate. Businesses get a quote from sales based on product, device count, installation and contract length. Car buyers usually see LoJack or GoldStar as a line item from the dealer, sometimes bundled into the sale or financing.
If a dealer adds LoJack to your car, ask for the price as a separate line, whether it’s optional, how long the service lasts, and whether you’re buying an extended 2 or 3 year warranty. You can decline add-ons you don’t want.

Buy-here-pay-here dealers and lenders use GoldStar devices to locate cars they finance and recover them if you fall behind. Your finance contract should disclose the device.
