Audicus legitimacy and licensing

Yes. Audicus, Inc. is a New York company that says it has sold hearing aids online since 2012 (the BBB lists a business start date of August 2010). It has been BBB accredited since November 7, 2014, holds an A rating, and had 16 complaints in the last three years. The FDA’s registration database lists Audicus at 39 W. 29th Street in Manhattan as a firm that develops specifications for, and relabels, over-the-counter wireless hearing aids.

Independent review scores are mixed but small: ConsumerAffairs shows 4.4 out of 5 from 570 reviews, and Trustpilot shows 3.6 out of 5 from just 18. The 4.7 rating from 9,000+ reviews on Audicus’s site is collected by the company itself. We found no FTC or state attorney general action against Audicus in our searches.

Audicus does not name its manufacturer on its website. Its app page sends owners to third-party apps from Sonova (Hearing Remote) and from Rexton and Signia, which are WS Audiology brands, and NCOA reports that the aids come from these large hearing aid makers.

Are Audicus hearing aids OTC or prescription?

Audicus sells them as over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids. Its FDA listing, created in August 2023, is under product code QUG, OTC air-conduction hearing aids with wireless technology. Under the FDA rule that took effect October 17, 2022, OTC hearing aids are for adults 18 and older with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss.

Unlike most OTC brands, Audicus programs each pair to your online hearing test or audiogram, and its audiologists adjust them remotely. That is closer to a clinic fitting than a one-size device, but it is still not an in-person exam. The FDA does not approve OTC hearing aids one by one and warns that labels such as “FDA Registered” can be misleading.

Audicus prices, financing and the Premier lease

As listed in October 2026, pairs cost $1,398 (Wave 2), $1,498 (Spirit 2), $1,698 (Omni 2), $1,898 (Omni 3), $1,998 (Ray) and $2,498 (Mini 2). Rechargeable versions of Wave, Spirit and the Omni models add $50 per ear. The main pricing page now features Omni 3, Ray, Omni 2 and Mini 2; Wave 2 and Spirit 2 are still sold on their own product pages.

Financing: Cherry offers plans up to 60 months with a minimum credit score of 500, and CareCredit offers 0% interest if paid in full within 24 months with a minimum score of 620. Read the terms on any promotional plan before you sign.

Premier lease: a $249 setup fee plus a monthly fee from $99, with no contract. It includes supplies every 6 months, free repairs and cleanings, loss and damage protection (a lost aid costs $150 to replace) and a new pair every 18 months. You never own the aids. If you buy them after the 100-day trial, Audicus applies a $350 credit. Audicus’s own pages list Omni 2 Premier at both $99 and $119 a month, so confirm the price before you enroll.

Add-ons: Audicus Protect costs $99 per aid ($198 a pair), must be bought within 100 days and adds 3 years of repairs with a $195 copay for lost aids. Audicus Care sends supplies for $12.

Audicus return policy, warranty and repairs

• Trial: 100 days from delivery. Your package must be mailed no later than day 100.
• Before you ship: contact Audicus at 917-999-0705 or [email protected] for a Service Request Number. Returns without one are not processed.
• What you lose: return shipping and any expedited shipping. Free gifts from a promotion must come back too, and damaged or modified aids are billed in full.
• Premier: return within 100 days and Audicus refunds the setup fee and all monthly payments. After 100 days there is no refund, but monthly charges stop once the aids arrive back.
• Warranty: 24 months against manufacturing defects for aids bought after November 1, 2022. Loss and user damage are excluded.
• Out-of-warranty repairs: a Clean and Care service costs $40 for one aid or $50 for a pair; a manufacturer repair costs $199 per aid and takes 7 to 14 days.

Audicus and Sam's Club

Audicus hearing aids were sold in some Sam’s Club Hearing Centers until July 31, 2026, when that arrangement ended. Audicus now sells only through audicus.com. If you bought at Sam’s Club, Audicus says your 1-year warranty, 90-day trial and lifetime remote audiology care still apply, but returns within the trial go back to the original store.

Audicus complaints and how to avoid problems

Most complaints on Trustpilot and other review sites are about reaching support after the sale, slow repairs, confusion over Premier lease and upgrade terms, and costs for parts and repairs. To protect yourself:

• Write down your delivery date and call about any return by about day 80, so the Service Request step does not push you past day 100.
• Get the Premier monthly price, the model and the upgrade rules in writing before you enroll.
• Decide on Audicus Protect within 100 days of purchase, since it cannot be added later.
• Pay by credit card, which gives you dispute rights if a refund never arrives.
• If a problem is not resolved, file a complaint with the BBB or the New York Attorney General’s consumer frauds bureau.

When to see a doctor or audiologist instead

The FDA says to see a doctor before using an OTC hearing aid if your hearing changed suddenly in the past 6 months, you hear worse in one ear, you have ringing in only one ear, you had fluid or discharge from the ear in the past 6 months, you have ear pain, dizziness, excess wax or an ear that is injured or unusually shaped. These can signal conditions a hearing aid will not fix.

An online hearing test is a screening, not a medical exam. If your loss is severe, or you still struggle after remote adjustments, an in-person audiologist can test you and recommend prescription hearing aids.
